We live in a rural area where our dogs can run and play all day long. I love they can be outside because dogs should be allowed to run and play. Since we moved from the city to our new rural dream home we have run into a few snags though. One of those snags is bugs, and more specifically fleas. Some times of the year the fleas in our area are worse then others. We first found this out the hard way last year. All of the sudden our house became infested with fleas. If this has ever happened to you, you know how quickly fleas can multiply. The dogs had gotten fleas while playing out in the woods and brought them back into the house. It took a trip to the vet and a call to the exterminator to get the situation resolved but we did. It cost us a lot of money to have the exterminator come out and get rid of all the fleas. After watching carefully what the exterminator did I came up with a solution that can be done for those people on a tight budget. So, here is my plan for getting rid of fleas.
1) Flea Bomb: Go to your local hardware store or large retail chain and buy a flea bomb. Follow the directions on the product treat your home. This will kill all the fleas inside your home and keep them from multiplying. I found that you can buy these cheaper on the internet. I have ordered a few to have around in case I need them. You can compare the prices from a couple online retailers and also read customer reviews from people who have had to use them. This will tell you if the product works.
2) Treat Pets: Your family vet can tell you how to treat your pets. The vet gave our dogs special shampoo for fleas as well as special collars to wear that repel the insects. You can also find these products online at a steep discount. We buy our pets medications online now and save a small fortune.
Flea infestation is nothing to smile about. We got our problem under control by using a flea bomb and getting our pets treated. You can prepare yourself for flea problems by purchasing a flea bomb to have on hand and speaking to your veterinarian about flea prevention treatments.
